I’m a day late and probably a few dollars short, but I wanted to get a quick recap from my training last week. It was week 3 for Jacksonville Marathon training and a big race weekend for me as well. I was still traveling yesterday, so I was unable to get anything out. Going into the week, I planned to only do about 4-6 miles over 2 runs. Knowing I had the back to back half marathon weekend, I didn’t want to do too many miles over the week. I had only been averaging about 22 miles, so I didn’t want to get too high in my mileage. I was aiming for around 30 for the week.
I only got in one cross training and weight session, but I was okay with that. I ended up taking Tuesday off as I was just wiped. I hadn’t been sleeping well and my body wasn’t having it. I figured I’d then just do my 2 week day runs Wednesday and Thursday and I had no issues with that. Since I wanted to get 4-6 miles, I ended up with 5.6 miles over those days. I was going for 3 and 3, but literally ran out of time on Thursday. The run itself was just crappy, so stopping at 2.6 was okay with me.
Monday: 40m Elliptical + 30m Weights
Wednesday: 3 miles, 33:30, 11:10/mile
Thursday: 2.6 miles, 30:54, 11:53/mile
Friday: Travel to Wisconsin
Saturday: Rockin’ Chocolate Half Marathon, 2:34:32
Sunday: New Bo Half Marathon, 2:41:13
Total Miles: 31.8 miles
Most of the miles of course came from my two races over the weekend. I’ll eventually get up actual race recaps, but they went about how I thought they would. Luckily Saturday’s race though was pretty much perfect weather and I certainly enjoyed that course more. Sunday’s race was slower and hurt more. I didn’t do as bad as I thought I would, but certainly still just slow in general. The best part though about the weekend is that these two races crossed off two new states for me! Even better is that with these races, I officially crossed the half way point for my journey.
While these might not have been the races I wanted for Wisconsin and Iowa, but they fit perfectly in my schedule and even better they let me spend the long weekend with Mel! She was amazing and ran every mile with me and even did my run/walk too. I thought she would do her own race, but when she told me she was running with me, it really made the races that much better!! The worst part of the weekend was trying to get home though. My DSM-ORD flight was easy and had no issues. My ORD-PIT flight was another story. We had a 4 hour delay and ended up boarding 2 different planes. No one thought that it would actually happen. I didn’t get home until around 2am and didn’t get to sleep until around 3am. I certainly didn’t get a lot of sleep and I hope it doesn’t hurt me for my 4th week of training.
