Last week was a solid week! I had planned to get in two short runs over the week, but ended up getting in some great cross training and weight sessions instead. Considering I had the double weekend with the Big Lake Half and Horseneck Half, I was okay with that. Right now I am trying to get in 2 sessions a week with my training to make up for the ones I missed while out for surgery. Luckily I am able to do this to make up from that and not loose any sessions.
Last minute though I added in a class at Shape Training. I had connected with one of the owners, Sarah, through Instagram. I know my sessions are up soon with my trainer and I don’t plan to get more. I have been wanting to maybe get back into crossfit, but have been struggling with going back. I really loved it back in the day, but not sure it has a place with me now. Luckily, Shape offers their first class free, so I decided to give their Lift class a try. HOLY COW what a workout! It was a full body workout with different moves on their bar system. I definitely would love to add their classes in twice a week going forward, so hopefully I can.
Monday: 1 mile, 11:53 (treadmill) + 30 min weight
Tuesday: Shape Training Class, The Lift
Wednesday: 25 min elliptical + 30 min weight
Thursday: 4 miles, 46:12, 11:33/mile
Friday: Rest Day
Saturday: Big Lake Half Marathon, 2:38:21
Sunday: Horseneck Half Marathon, 2:35:24
Total Miles: 27.2 miles
The big miles obviously came from my two races over the weekend. I was pretty nervous with how I might do and was even concerned that I would even finish. Well, I continue to surprise myself, because not only did I finish, but all things considering, I felt very solid for both races. The race in NH brought a lot of hills and I thought I would do a lot more walking. It was hillier than Pittsburgh and I did more walking at that race than I did on Saturday. The legs were feeling pretty good on Sunday and on a flatter course, I actually put up a faster time. I was shocked! I think between the last 2 weeks though, I finally have the fire back. I am scheduling my workouts and runs out again and going to do my best to make sure that I hit them all.
