Last week I was all over the place. Literally. I was extremely busy with work and was bouncing from location to location all week. In fact, Tuesday I even took a day trip out to State College. It was a pretty exhausting week and I felt that in every way. I slept horribly all week and my bed time was pushed back almost every night. I know I sound like an old lady, but typically I crawl into bed around 9pm so I can read a bit and wind down. Last week, I was crawling into bed some nights around 11pm. It was certainly night ideal for me.
I only got in 3 runs last week and I always try and shoot for at least 4 and if I am feeling over zealous, I go for 5. Even though it was only 3 runs, I was happy to get over 20 miles for the week. I am still so inconsistent in my weekly mileage though and that’s still something I want to focus on with these remaining weeks of training. I also want to make sure I am getting to 1,000 miles for the year. This time last year I was well over 1,000 and if I get about 20 miles a week for the remainder of the year, I should be able to at least squeak past that 1k mark.
Monday: 3.5 miles 40:26, 11:33/mile+ 30m weights
Tuesday: 30m Elliptical + 30m weights
Saturday: 15 miles, 3:07:13, 12:29/mile
Sunday: 4.5 miles, 57:18, 12:44/mile
Total Miles: 23 miles
The one great this from the week was that I got in 2 weight sessions and 1 cross training session. While they were back to back days, which isn’t necessarily ideal, I still got them in and I felt them all week. Tuesday was leg day and it was pretty rough. I was doing lighter exercises to not stress my knee, but I still couldn’t avoid leg day all together. And with the knee, no update there. I was denied to get any MRI, so I am just dealing with the pain at this point. It’s still very stiff and I am very hesitant with a lot of movements, but doing what I can. I feel that it’s going to just lock out at any time again. It’s frustrating, but nothing I can do at this point.
As for my runs, they were okay. My 15 miler was the highest mileage I have put up all year. That’s a pretty sad thing for me, but it’s just how the year the year has shaken out. Going into that run, I told myself if I couldn’t get it done, I needed to pull out of marathon training. Well, luckily or maybe not so luckily, I finished the run and it wasn’t all that bad. The pace was about where I thought it would be for the miles. I held on pretty well for most of the run, but definitely struggled the most in the last 1.5 miles. It had to do a bit with my route I think as I was pretty close to home and I just circled for about 2 miles on the North Shore.
While I am hopeful this week might be a little less crazy, I am also doubtful that will be the case. I am again running around visiting locations all week also while getting ready for vacation. In less than a week, I am off to Hawaii to mark that state off on my 50 state quest and enjoy a nice week long vacation in Maui. I have so many things planned and really looking forward to getting away for a bit and resetting. I’ve dealt with a lot of personal things for the past few months and certainly am excited to recharge and just enjoy the time away to myself. Don’t worry though, I’ll share lots of pictures while I am there so you’ll probably feel like you’re right there with me.
