The last time I posted a weekly training recap was 12-4-17. It started by complaining about my car woes. Guess what. This one is going to be pretty much a repeat. Sometime on Wednesday (well, I am pretty sure I know where/where), my bumper got pulled off. I took it into a collision place and they said it was most likely me hitting an ice/snow pack and it basically ripped it off. So, hell of a way to start the year, right? Insurance claim and a $500 deductible. Eff you, person who doesn’t plow their lot.
So, on top of that it was actually a pretty crazy week for me! We had a major project at work and I spent a lot of time on site, doing my best to make sure it went right. Of course, plenty of hiccups along the way, but not everything goes smoothly 100% of the time. I lost a lot of sleep and it was a lot of late nights. It really threw off my schedule of work outs and even when I ate dinner. One night I got home and shoved dinner down around 10:30pm. I knew it was just too late, but I was staving and needed something. What stinks is that another project of the same magnitude is this week, so I am sure it’ll be another long week. The nice thing is that in 2 weeks though, I’ll be sailing the high seas and completely unreachable for 5 days! THAT is what I am looking forward to!
In terms of my workouts, I did have a great cross training/weight workout on Wednesday and the runs I did get in were pretty great! With the crazy arctic temps we had last week, I took to the treadmill for 2 of the runs and then headed outside for the Pittsburgh Marathon Kickoff run on Sunday with Amanda! My Friday treadmill run was actually 5×500 and it was really the first time I had done a workout like that on a treadmill. It certainly helped make the time go by faster and honestly, was one of the best treadmill runs I had ever done. I definitely need to mix things up more often when I am on there.
Monday: Rest Day
Tuesday: 4 miles, 46:30, 11:38/mile (treadmill)
Wednesday: 25m Elliptical + 30m weight session
Friday: 5 miles, 55:10, 11:02/mile (treadmill)
Saturday: Oops – Rest Day
Sunday: 6 miles, 1:06:52, 11:08/mile
Total Miles: 15 miles
This certainly wasn’t the week I wanted heading into the last week before my next marathon. In fact, I still can’t believe I am going to toe the line on Sunday and attempt this marathon. I am so unprepared, but at this point, I am going to try and make it happen. I am determined to get to that finish line and hopefully in one piece. It’s going to be slow, but finishing is the only goal. It looks like weather will be nice, so hopefully I can just enjoy all 26.2 miles of this race! Wish me luck because I am going to need it!
