Okay guys, it’s not THAT kind of streaking! I’m a fun one, but I do keep it PG! What I am going to do is go for a run streak through the month of July. It’s been about 3 years since I have done any type of run streak, so I figured I’d give it another shot. My last run streak lasted over 100 days. This time though, I am looking at just the month of July. That’s it.
I know Runner’s World typically has a run streak that last through the summer and that is what catapulted my first streak to well over 100 days. In reality though, I am not the biggest fans of run streaks. One of the reasons I am not a huge fan of the streaks is that it’s easy to injury yourself along the way to ensure you at least get 1 mile a day along the way. Another reason is that runners will do just about anything to make sure they get that mile in. I recall once when I had the stomach flu that I hopped on the treadmill with a 102 degree fever after throwing up all morning. Should I have done it? Probably not, but I had to keep the streak going.
I’ve been feeling a little better with my running these past few weeks, so I thought a 31 day run streak might help keep me going. In reality, I am probably only looking at 2-3 days a week that I am adding on a mile at minimum. Right now I am trying to run 4-5 days a week. The add on days will most likely be Monday and Friday’s, so doing a quick mile around the neighborhood shouldn’t be too hard. I’m really just hoping this helps kick start me into marathon training, which is slated to start on August, 14th. Let’s hope this helps keeping me on the upswing! If you want to join in with a July running streaking, let me know! The more the merrier!
Have you done a run streak before? If so, what is the longest streak you’ve done?
