Another week on the road and surprising another week of *most* of my miles getting done. Last week I was mainly in Ohio so it was just a lot of driving. I actually redid my trip to not go to Columbus because I didn’t want to deal with any more driving that I needed to. Even though the Ohio trips are closer and easier than say a trip to Philadelphia to NYC, they are more exhausting because of the driving. At least when I fly to Philly or NYC I can sit back and sleep on the plane. Well, can’t do that so much when I am driving all around Ohio.
I was happy that I got 2 of my 3 week day runs done. My run on Wednesday was just amazing! I ended up staying by the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and did my 7 miles along the towpath there. It was fast and flat and even when I was done with my 7 miles, I felt like I could have kept going.
By the time I got home Thursday I was just EXHAUSTED! I think the only reason I even went and ran that 1 mile is because I wanted to run in my new Altra shoes! I took the One 2.5’s out for a quick spin. I am excited to rotate this lightweight shoe into the runs.
Thursday night also was suppose to be the start of flag football season, but I ended up canceling on that because I was juts so tired. I had tickets to the Amazing Acro-Cat Circus and it was going to just be crazy to do dinner with Kira, enjoy the cat circus and then get to football. The Cat circus ended up going long so I am glad I didn’t do football. I am definitely glad I spent all the time I could with the Acro-Cats!! It was such a fun show and would definitely recommend EVERYONE seeing it if they come to a city near you!
Tuesday: 4 miles, 42:14, 10:34/mile
Wednesday: 7 miles, 1:11:37, 10:13/mile
Thursday: 1 mile, 9:51
Friday: Travel Day to Akron
Saturday: Akron Marathon Team Relay, 5.7 miles – 56:14, Team: 4:43:44
Sunday: Sick Day
Total Miles: 17.7
The highlight of this past week was Akron though. It was great to see and visit with everyone and I did much better than I thought during my leg of the Akron Marathon Relay. It was a nice confidence booster to seeing those splits! My fourth mile I even posted a 9:39 split. Between than and my splits from Wednesday night’s run, I am really hoping these splits aren’t flukes but something that is here to stay.
The only bad part about the weekend is that once I got home from Akron the cold I’ve been trying to fight off just hit me hard. I ended up asleep by 8pm and slept for nearly 12 hours! When I woke up though on Sunday I felt even worse and decided it was best to forgo the Great Race 10k. Even though I hate this race, taking a DNS is never fun, but I needed to listen to my body and rest. I had been going hard for awhile and sometimes you just need some rest. It ended up being a lazy Sunday for me the cats.
