Last week’s training schedule really got jumbled up. I think the only miles I got on the right day were my Tuesday night miles. Otherwise, I had to mix things up to get the miles in that I could. The one nice thing though is that I did not travel this week and had access to my gym at work. I got in 2 elliptical sessions for some cross training miles. You’d think since I was home all week, I would have gotten my miles in, but work stress took over and in dealing with some things, the miles took that backseat. The other nice thing about gym time was taking some time out and focusing on rolling and stretching my hip
The week started with hitting the trail with Chris, another one of the PBR training group mentors. He took me out on some trails I’ve been on in Settler’s Park. It was actually nice to have the slower miles the day after Brokeman’s Half and to just relax. It is amazing how much slower I am out there on the trails than on the road. I’d love to be able to carve out 3-5 miles a week dedicated to the trail. I see the allure to be able to really just tune out and be in nature out there.

Over the weekend, I had plans to travel up to Rochester to visits some friends and enjoy some great beer! I knew I needed to get in the long run miles, so I went for them after work on Thursday. I did this before and it sucked and this run was no different. I was doing okay until about mile 6-7. I typically never do more than 7 miles on week nights and I could feel those last miles. My route also took me up Liberty which is never fun. I got the miles in, but they weren’t necessarily anywhere near my right pace and they just sucked.
As I mentioned, my weekend mainly consisted of enjoying some great NY beers with some friends in Rochester. In fact, we planned 2 different beer events on Saturday. There was so much beer to be had. Some was great and some not so great, but it was a great weekend and loved making new memories with friends! As Lauren and I drove home on Sunday, I was amazed at how it felt like spring outside still. So, within minutes of getting home I had changed into shorts and a short sleeve shirt and hit the pavement. I felt like crap, but somehow the miles were pretty darn good. I couldn’t let spring-like weather pass me by.
